Recently, the Ministry of Education officially announced the list of national planning textbooks for the “14th Five-Year Plan” period. The textbook “Engineering Drawing (English-Chinese Bilingual Edition) (3rd Edition)”, edited by Professors Hu Lin and Cheng Rong from our college, was successfully selected, marking authoritative national recognition of its content quality, teaching applicability, and disciplinary influence.
Since its first edition in 2005, the textbook has undergone nearly 20 years of continuous development and four systematic revisions, gradually establishing a distinctive bilingual teaching system, achieving organic integration of print and digital resources, and forming a three-dimensional, multimodal teaching resource library, providing solid support for engineering graphics course teaching and professional talent cultivation.
The textbook construction process has yielded fruitful results: the second edition was selected as a national planning textbook for the “11th Five-Year Plan”, and the third edition was included in the national key publication plan for the “13th Five-Year Plan”. In addition, the textbook has successively won honors including the First Guangdong Outstanding Textbook Award, Second Prize for Outstanding Educational Achievements (Textbooks) in the Machinery Industry, Outstanding Textbook Award from the Guangdong Engineering Graphics Society, and First Prize for Outstanding Textbooks at Shenzhen University. Its accompanying digital resources have repeatedly won awards in the National Multimedia Courseware Competition, demonstrating its profound foundation in high-quality textbook development. To date, the textbook has been adopted by nearly 70 universities nationwide, with a cumulative print run exceeding 180,000 copies, demonstrating broad applicability and sustained educational impact.
The successful selection of “Engineering Drawing (English-Chinese Bilingual Edition) (3rd Edition)” as a national planning textbook is authoritative recognition of the outstanding academic level and teaching ability of the chief editors and their team, as well as a concentrated demonstration of the college’s overall educational strength, professional construction achievements, and continuous improvement in talent cultivation quality.
