The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Control Engineering at Shenzhen University can be traced back to the Department of Precision Instruments at Shenzhen University, which was established in 1984 and supported by Tsinghua University. The college currently has over 2000 full-time students, including more than 1200 undergraduate students and over 800 graduate students. There are 99 full-time teachers, including 2 academicians of the Japanese Academy of Engineering, 1 foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering, 4 innovative talents of the National Major Talent Project, 1 recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, 1 recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, 1 outstanding talent of Guangdong Province, 25 professors (including 9 specially appointed professors), 33 associate professors, 98 personnel with doctoral degrees, and 14 doctoral supervisors.

The college has three undergraduate majors: Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, Automation, and Robotics Engineering; Two doctoral programs in secondary disciplines: Optoelectronic and Mechanical Engineering and Applications, Intelligent Systems and Intelligent Manufacturing; Two academic master's programs in first level disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Control Science and Engineering; Three professional master's programs: Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, and Intelligent Manufacturing Technology. College graduates have the characteristics of "broad vision, emphasis on practicality, willingness to innovate, and admiration for competition", and a group of graduates have already emerged in the domestic industry.
