Optimising multi-material additive manufacturing processes using multi-scale digital twins
Prof. Rossitza Setchi
2023年5月17日(星期三)上午10:00
Professor Setchi will introduce the work of her team at Cardiff University on novel designs based on a better understanding of process capability. She will then focus on the opportunities in the design for multi-material additive manufacturing, and discuss the main challenges in this area, namely the need to reliably produce high quality components with predictable properties through predictive modelling from design through to manufacture, use and reuse, and developing digital twins for product, process and performance optimisation and prediction. She will conclude her talk by highlighting the new opportunities for more creativity in design and innovation, need for new, more systematic approaches and methodologies and integration of sensing, monitoring, big data analytics, machine learning and digital twins.
Prof Rossitza Setchi FLSW, FIET, FIMechE, FBCS, SMIEEE is Professor in High-Value Manufacturing at Cardiff University. She has a track record of research in additive manufacturing (AM), including nanocomposites, multi-material, AI / Industry 4.0 and sustainable manufacturing. She is the Founding Director of the Centre for AI, Robotics and Human-Machine Systems (IROHMS) at Cardiff and leads the Metal Sector and the Cardiff team within the EPSRC ISCF Transforming Foundation Industries R&I Hub. The Cardiff team works closely with the metal industry to enable lower energy and low carbon products. Prof Setchi’s current and recently completed projects include collaborations with Airbus on AM-based lightweight tooling, Continental Teves on AM and Industry 4.0, Carlisle on Industry 4.0 and Renishaw on SLM processing.
